What this service involves

Expert witness work combines a defensible appraisal with the ability to communicate it clearly under adversarial questioning. The appraiser develops an independent opinion of value, documents the methodology and supporting data, and then — if engaged to testify — explains that opinion and the basis for it to the court. The scope is set by the retaining attorney and the assignment.

This is distinct from a standard appraisal that is simply delivered as a document. Expert testimony requires the appraiser to be qualified, prepared, and available for deposition and trial, which is a separate engagement from preparing the report.
